3 Options for the Sought After Long Cardigan Sweater
By Laura Carson Miller
Good day my friends,
Today I want to chat about the long cardigan sweater, a very popular ‘it’ item these days in the fashion world.
When I say long I’m not talking about duster, knee length. I’m talking about longer than hip and shorter than knee or ankle length. Now that we have that sorted…
I’ve picked 3 cardigans in the 3 price ranges so you can get an idea of what is out there in particular fabrics and colors.
I’ll start with the one that sets my heart aflutter. It’s from Gwyneth’s G.Label by Goop. The Slim Belted Cardigan is $595 and comes in oat or black. It is made of fine Italian virgin wool and has faux-horn buttons and a removable tie belt. Both colors are currently available in all sizes. I love that this one has the matching optional belt as I think it just adds that little extra ‘I’m casually chic and low key glam’ factor. But that’s just me. I imagine wearing this feels like being wrapped up the coziest kitten, plus if you had a bad day wearing this you could easily say, ‘well that was no fun, but my cardigan is so fabulous I. DO. NOT. CARE.’
Next is the one I personally own, the Fisherman Cardigan in Cloud from Everlane. It comes in black, taupe melange ~ my color of choice, and heathered oat. ‘Cloud yarn’ is alpaca merino blend and it really is about the softerst thing you’d ever want to wear. Right now the black is in stock in xxs, xs, s, m, l and xl. Taupe melange is ready to ship xs, s and m. Ditto with oat. This sweater is $248 and I think it is well worth the price. I see myself wearing this so often once the weather truly stays cool. (Today we are expereicneing a 74 degree day here in Atlanta in November.) It’s a winner with a fancy dress or jeans and sneakers. A perfect travel sweater as you can layer under it ~ everything from a luxe tee to a button up or a sleeveless turtleneck. And if you’re braving Arctic cold temps wear it over a cashmere sweater. I am so happy I bought this sweater!!
Last but certainly not least is this fab offeirng from J. Crew. They call it a long sweater blazer and it’s 100% cotton. It has gold buttons and is available in black, navy, heather khaki (a buttery cream shade) and heather walnut, a medium brown shade. The heather walnut is a low stock color but the other colors are readily available. The price is $79.50, originally $168. This is so versatile! You can wear it over a dress or skirt and cami option as shown in the top left photo or as a sweater on its own with jeans or trousers. Or layer it over a simple white tank and jeans combo, button it to the waist only and add any belt from your closet to cinch your waist. Bravo.
So there you have it, 3 long cardigans in a range of prices and fabrics. This a truly heroine item for your wardrobe as it’s so easy to style and is going to give anything you pair it with an air of subtle sophisitication. And who doesn’t want that?
