Secrets for the Most Beautiful Eyebrows

By Laura Carson Miller

Hello friends!

Are you obsessed with glorious eyebrows like I am?

The truth is I don’t wear a lot of makeup at this stage in my life. Back in my days working in the salon and spa business I was focused on all the fun eyeshadow, liner, mascara, brow pencil, blush and all the cosmetic things!!

Now I concentrate my efforts on skin care and wear tinted SPF moisturizer every day -DRMTGLY Matte, and I pay special attention to my brows! I use a tinted brow product applied with a wand – Grande Brow 2-in-1, then a few minutes later I use a clear gel product to seal in the tinted product – NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel and make sure my brows stay exactly where I want them to all day and into the night. Sometimes I wear a bit of cream blush and a touch of waterproof mascara. I always wear a sheer pink toned lip color.

There are lots of steps you can employ to get the brows of your dreams. I’m adrressing some of them below but I have really IMPACTFUL tip for you that you may not have thought of or ever read in a lifestyle magazine or on a beauty blog.

When I started doing this my brows grew in stronger and fuller and the hairs seem to lay flatter – you know how sometimes your brows can be sort of bushy and unrulty and look a bit crazy even when you’ve paid to have them professionally waxed, threaded or tweezed?

My life changing brow advice is to exfoliate your brows and the skin under and around your brows gently every single night. Now I know you aren’t exfolating your whole face every night but if you will take just a tiny bit of your exfoliation product, whatever it may be, and use it on your brow hairs you’ll be amazed at the differnce it will make.

Follow up this exfoliation with a brow growth serum, a facial skin oil or your normal nightly moisturizer.  Concentrate the product on your brow hairs and the skin underneath. By exfoliating and moisturizing your brow hairs and the skin underneath those hairs you are ridding the area of dead cells that can build up and inhibit brow growth plus no one likes to see dry flaky patches under their brow hairs which would sometimes happen to me in the winter months before I started nightly brow exfolation. This nightly exfolaton also enusres you are removing all the brow products you may be applying daily, which can also imped new hairs coming in!

Eyebrows frame your face and can enhance your natural beauty when shaped and groomed correctly. Whether you prefer a natural, full look or a perfectly sculpted arch, achieving beautiful eyebrows requires the right techniques and care. Here are a few more expert tips to get your best brows ever!

1. Find the Right Shape for Your Face

Not all eyebrow shapes suit every face. Identifying the perfect shape based on your face structure can make a huge difference. Here’s a quick guide:

  • Round Face: A high arch elongates the face.
  • Oval Face:A soft, natural arch complements this balanced face shape.
  • Square Face: A slightly curved or rounded brow softens angular features.
  • Heart-Shaped Face: A soft, rounded arch looks most flattering.

2. Maintain a Proper Grooming Routine

To keep your brows looking their best, follow a regular grooming schedule:

  • Tweeze Sparingly: Over-tweezing can lead to sparse brows. Remove only stray hairs outside your natural shape.
  • Trim Wisely: Use small, sharp scissors to trim long hairs that stick out.
  • Wax or Thread for Precision: Professional waxing or threading provides a clean and defined shape with longer-lasting results.

3. Use the Right Products

Enhancing your brows with the right makeup can make them look fuller and more polished:

  • Eyebrow Pencil: Great for filling in sparse areas and defining the shape.
  • Brow Powder: Ideal for a softer, natural look. Use a very light hand with brow powder and pencil. I recommend using a shade that is a bit lighter than your brow hairs so brows do not appear severe and unatural.
  • Brow Gel: Helps set hairs in place and adds volume. It’s now available in every shade imaginable and of course clear is great for a natural look.
  • Concealer: Apply underneath the brow for a sharp, clean finish.

4. Encourage Healthy Growth

If you struggle with thin or patchy brows, take steps to promote hair growth:

  • Castor Oil: Apply nightly to stimulate hair growth.
  • Biotin Supplements: Strengthen hair and encourage regrowth. I take a skin, hair & nails vitamin each eveing with my dinner.
  • Avoid Over-Tweezing: Give your brows time to grow naturally. I know it can be hard, but leave the tweezers in the drawer! And never tweeze any brows at the top of your brow line. Those hairs at the top of your brow really help to define your brow shape and should be left alone, always.
  • Apply Brow Growth Serums: Use it over your entire brow and concentrate a bit of the product in areas where you want to promote hair growth

5. Seek Professional Help

If you’re unsure about shaping your brows yourself, visiting a professional can make a huge difference. Brow artists can help create the perfect shape for your face while maintaining a natural look. If you need a recommendation ask anyone with brows you admire. This can be a friend, family member, co-worker or a srtanger. Women love getting brow compliments from strangers!

6. There are Trends, But Stay True to Yourself

Eyebrow trends come and go—whether it’s the ultra-thin brows of the ’90s or today’s full, fluffy look. However, the most important thing is to choose a brow style that complements your face shape and eye placement and feels right for you.

I tend to think more is more with brows, because a fuller brow softens the face and looks healthy and vibrant IMHO. With the right care and maintenance, your eyebrows can enhance your entire look. Whether you prefer bold and defined or soft and natural, you deseve the most beautiful brows possible!
