‘I Say, It’s A Peach’

Incorporating Peach Fuzz, the Pantone color of the year, with casual style

By Laura Carson Miller

Sometimes I worry I relate too many things in daily life to Seinfeld episodes but then I come to my senses and realize whimsy is imperative and Seinfeld is just plain funny no matter how many times you’ve seen a particular episode. Kinda like The Beverly Hillbillies.

So…because I’m me, when Pantones’ color of the year turned out to be Peach Fuzz, I immediately thought of Elaine, with her cigar and her feet propped up on the desk, and how she said her first issue at the helm of the J. Peterman Catalogue was ‘a peach.’

Said catalogue featured The Urban Sombrero on the cover, remember??

Elaine: “Hey, guess who just finished laying out her first issue of the J. Peterman Catalogue.” Jerry: “How does it look?” Elaine: “It’s a peach.” Jerry: “What’s that?” Elaine: “I say, it’s a peach.”

Another reason peach is on my mind is because my sweet friend Becky has so kindly bestowed me with several batches on fresh Georgia grown peaches she procures directly from the Pearson Farm. These peaches are a not only a thing of beauty visually but they taste like heaven in your mouth. Seriously they are so sweet and juicy and just bursting with the most glorious flavor, EVER. But I digress.

For you, dear reader, I studied a lot of photos of rooms with peachy shades in various incarnations. I want to share some photos with you and chat a bit about how you can use peach tones in your living and work spaces in ways subtle or stupendous, depending on how the mood strikes you.

Accent Pieces ~ Using peach tones as accents is a great way to enjoy this cheery and calming color.  Table top accessories are a perfect choice.

Furniture ~ Peach tones in furniture can stand out or blend in based on your color choice and placement within the room.

Paint ~ The right peach paint can say glam or cozy. It’s quite the versatile shade!

I hope this little study in peach has given you some inspiration for your own home or work spaces. Peach pairs well with green, navy blue, purple and red. A soft white, cream, tan or a more yellow toned beige are great neutrals to pair with peach.
